Music To My Ears

First off, I want to send a huge THANK YOU to Jen for taking me to see Tim McGraw! Thanks to Jen (and Jen's brother), I got to see a great concert last night. He really rocked the house and put on a great show. If you're a Tim fan, then you're going to love his new and upcoming album.... it's packed full of great songs.

Take Care!

Muscle Fairy

Okay, so because it's gotten lighter later at night, I've been having a harder time getting Caleb to go to bed, stay in bed, and fall asleep at a decent hour. That kid has will power and there have been several nights when it's been close to my bedtime (10:30pm) and I can still hear him- either singing softly to himself or he's snuck out toys and is playing with them incognito in his room. So last night, after I was tired of dealing with a "grump"- I had to think of a new tactic.

Thus, the "Muscle Fairy" was born which by the way only visits little boys when they fall asleep. To my surprise and amazement, Caleb fell asleep rather quickly and first thing in the morning I caught him posing in the bathroom. When I asked him what he was doing. He replied, "I'm looking at my big muscles I got last night."

Do you think every white lie a mom tells get's tallied in heaven? If so,... I'm a gonner.

Beach Bums

I'm glad to see the Summer may have finally arrived for Seattle. Although the temperatures haven't risen dramatically like gas prices, it's nice to see the extended forecast call for sunny skies and mid 70 degree weather. We love to drive to Owen Beach and walk along the waterfront and watch the boats go by. We recently found a beautiful day to go and we had a grand time...

A Ball A Day... Keeps The Tears Away

When I found out that I was pregnant with our second son, I just assumed that we would be getting another spitt'n image of Caleb. I couldn't have been more wrong. Porter received several different ingredients from the Holmes's X & Y chromosome store. As a baby (and still to this day), Caleb loves to play with combs and brushes (now, so he can give himself "spikeys").

Porter's toy of choice is a ball.... any ball. And if he starts to cry or if he gets fussy... it's not the binky I reach for, it's the ball... which by the way seems to have some magical powers on Porter.

Happy Father's Day!

I feel really blessed to have Damon in my life. He is such a wonderful husband and father. Damon has so many wonderful qualities... Here are a few of my favorite:

1. He has a strong testimony and a love for the gospel.
2. He tells it how it is. (Which is totally opposite of me.)
3. He loves adventure and is not afraid to try new things despite the high risk factor. (Again, another opposite... I'm a WW!)
4. He has a calming demeanor and rarely flies off the handle.
5. He loves to teach and play with his boys.

My own father has been another source of strength in my life! H.F. was generous when He placed me with a family full of fun siblings and two wonderful parents. My father is a wonderful example of service, hard work, and conservative principles. He has taught me well. Happy Father's Day, Dad. I love you!

Sophie May Arrived Today!

My sister and brother in law had their third little girl today. Sophie weighed 7 lbs. 15 oz. and was 20 inches long. She has a sweet disposition and looks alot like Kiley did as a baby. Both Kristin and Sophie are doing well.... Babies are such miracles and all I wanted to do was drink her in. Sophie is a beautiful addition to our family... a beautiful baby which comes from a beautiful mama!

Another Year Has Gone By

I had the best birthday weekend! I feel awfully blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful family and friends. We had a few family birthday parties, I went out to dinner twice, and had a fun date night out with Damon. Wednesday night I had dinner with Kris, Leslie and some friends and had (MY FAVORITE) Thai Chicken Salad from The Ram (highly recommend)- Thanks, Jen!

A friend of mine introduced me to The Biggest Loser work out DVD and I'm addicted! In addition to walking (which I also LOVE!) this is the best work out... there are muscles that I didn't know existed.... and not because I can see them (yet), but because after doing this I feel them.

The thing that I love about this workout is that you can customize your workout (literally) and that all of the moves are designed to work your core. This was the best birthday gift to myself (we'll besides my new pair of walking shoes). Now, if only I could have had a day of sunshine to go along with it...

Salt Water State Park

Caleb had a preschool field trip to the beach today. Mrs. Spencer had planned it for today because it was the lowest tide day of the year. This also attracted magnets of people and the beach was full of scuba divers, kids, teachers, parents as well as tons of star fish, crab, and other sea creatures. It was a fun day filled with sand, mud, tide pools and rock throwing.... which was Caleb's absolute favorite thing about the day. Caleb commenting on the crab says, "The big ones go PINCH PINCH, but the small ones... it's okay mom, they just tickle."

Below are a few pictures from our day together:
